It is my pleasure and honour to introduce myself as the Principal of Mutchmor Public School.
Our school is situated in the heart of the historical Glebe community in Ottawa and has a student population of approximately 425 students in Kindergarten to Grade 6. Our programs include Full Day Kindergarten and Early French Immersion. We acknowledge that our learning, playing and growing is taking place on the unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Algonquin People and we recognize their enduring presence on this land.
Student safety, achievement, and well being are a collective priority in our school. This year, Mutchmor’s School Learning Plan is centered around developing students’ social-emotional skills with a focus on executive functioning. Our staff actively engage in learning about their students as individuals and create engaging programming that builds on student strengths and interests. In this culturally responsive environment, we consistently create the conditions for students to acquire strong academic skills.
Our educators are committed to creating equitable, inclusive, and caring environments for students that are conducive to learning and success. We regularly embed lessons about empathy and kindness towards others into our practice and are committed to celebrating differences. Through this teaching, our students continue to work towards becoming culturally responsive citizens who are ethical and responsible decision makers.
We are privileged to have a strong and dedicated parent community who collaborate and communicate closely with staff, students and the community to create opportunities for fundraising and organizing a variety of school and community events. Our School Council meets monthly and all are welcome to attend.
We look forward to connecting with you and encourage our families to reach out at any time if you have questions, comments or suggestions. Our school’s calendar is linked to the school website’s homepage. We also encourage you to follow our school on Twitter: @MutchmorPS.
Sincerely,
Faye Hughson
